Healthcare Jobs Up by 36,000 Last Month, According to BLS

Friday March 7, 2008
It is truly amazing how the healthcare industry continues to grow and add jobs, even as other industries lose tens of thousands of jobs. The data for February 2008 were released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and as usual, the news is good for healthcare workers, and gloomy for just about everyone else.

Healthcare added 36,000 jobs for the month of February, and while that's not a huge increase for this explosive industry, it is significant when compared to manufacturing, which lost a whopping 52,000 jobs, or construction which decreased by 39,000 jobs. Additionally, retail employment fell by 34,000. Just goes to show why "Job growth, job growth, and more job growth" is number one on my list of the Top 5 reasons to work in the healthcare industry!
