Healthcare Adds 22,000 Jobs

The healthcare industry finished out the year with an addition of 22,000 jobs to the workforce in the month of December, according to today's employment report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The most notable gains were in physician offices (9,000 jobs added) and in home health care (8,000 jobs added). Hospital jobs did not show significant growth for the month.

The nation's workforce, including all industries, has lost a total of 4.2 million jobs during 2009. In December, the unemployment rate remains unchanged at 10.0 percent, and the nation's workforce decreased by 85,000 jobs. On the contrary, the healthcare industry has grown by 631,000 jobs since the beginning of the recession.

That should give some people a positive outlook, at least the ones looking to get into the health career. My company is looking to expand and hire some people, so definitely I can agree there are some positive factors in this industry.
