Question: What Is an Audiologist?
Answer: An audiologist is a medical professional who treats people with hearing disorders. Hearing disorders may result in balance disorders and speech difficulties as well. Therefore, audiologists often are part of a health care team that may include a speech pathologist, an occupational therapist, and a physician, such as an otolaryngologist.
Audiologists must have at least a master's level education, and in some states, a doctorate is required. For more information, see the career planning brief on audiologists.
