Definition: Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) is a sub-speciality of OB/GYN which focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and care of women with high-risk pregnancies.
High risk pregnancies include multiple births, or pregnancies in women of advanced maternal age (35-40+), or in women who have other health issues that may complicate pregnancy such as obesity, diabetes, heart problems, kidney problems, etc.
