Urology

Definition: Urology is a surgical specialty treating diseases and disorders of the urinary tract of men and women. Additionally, urology also treats the male reproductive system. Physicians who practice urology are called urologists. Urologist perform laparoscopic surgeries of the prostate, bladder, and ureter, removing stones, blockages, cancerous growths, or repairing abnormalities. Another common procedure performed by urologists is a vasectomy, or male sterilization.
